About Me

Sylvia Safran Resnick’s fascination with Hollywood began at a very early age. As a young girl sitting in darkened movie theater with her friends she was entranced by the figures up on the big white screen. As she grew older she began keeping up with the daily gossip about her favorite stars. Her fantasies of meeting and mingling with the elite greats, who filled the silver screen, followed her to adulthood when one day she magically became one of "them".

Sylvia became one of the gossip columnists and entertainment journalists who sat face to face with the stars, lunching with them in studio commissaries and such glamorous restaurants as The Polo Lounge. She even occasionally had the privilege of conducting an interview in the star’s dressing room or private home.

From 1964 to 1973 Sylvia's byline appeared coast to coast in such publications as Photoplay, TV Radio Mirror, Modern Screen, Movie Stars and TV Star Parade. She frequently wrote articles in mega-giant Sterling Publications focusing on in-person interviews with an assortment of film and television stars. Her column Las Vegas Go-Round appeared in TV Star Parade monthly for three years.

When the celebrated Rona Barrett launched her own magazine in 1970, Sylvia joined the staff as Associate Editor. She interviewed and wrote articles about Hollywood's established stars and TV and film actors and actresses on their way up. She covered premiers, parties and an even the entertainment journalist’s dream, The Golden Globe Awards and the Emmy Awards ceremonies.
In 1973 the era of health and nutrition publishing was taking hold and the editor/publisher of Bestways Magazine offered Sylvia a job writing a monthly feature on the health and fitness of top celebrities of the time. She also wrote a monthly beauty feature using her Sheri Paul by line. It was at that time that she became intrigued with the benefits of health spa vacations and has been a spa enthusiast and aficionado ever since as you will discover in her Spa Blog.

From 1977-1991 Sylvia continued her freelance work publishing entertainment articles in such publications as Coronet, Pageant, Ladies Home Companion, Big Valley and In The Know, all magazines dealing with the current "hot" celebrities of that era. During this time, she was commissioned to write a biography of Kristy McNichol, followed by two celebrity cookbooks focusing on favorite recipes and some home spun memories: The Partridge Family Cookbook (Curtis Publications) and The Walton Family Cookbook (Bantam). In 1982 St. Martin's Press, signed her to a contract to write a biography of Burt Reynolds with whom she became friends.

Sylvia also wrote a trilogy of teen mysteries titled "Debbie Preston Teenage Reporter", (New American Library) each centered on a top television celebrity of the 1970's. In addition, two erotic novels, Heat Wave and Summer of Love, were published under pen names.

Today, in addition to her Spa Blog and Life Goes on Blog, Sylvia is working on books in four different venues: Entertainment, Mainstream fiction, Romance and Erotica.
She enjoys the changing writing venue as she finds it keeps her on her writing "toes". Never far from her first love Hollywood, Sylvia is currently under contract to complete a book on Hollywood Heartthrobs for Bear Mountain Media.
